Its looking a lot like spring out there with record high temperatures being recorded on the west coast of BC. I walked through the Ladner Community Garden today to make sure everything was doing okay. I wasn't surprised to see that the Narcissus bulbs I planted just a few months ago were popping heir heads above ground.
Bulbs are hardy and won't be hurt if the weather tuns cold. They usually won't bloom any earlier than usual. Here the Narcissus tend to bloom from February to April depending on the variety.
I checked out some of the herbs that are still in one of the allotment gardens. This spring we plan to build an herb garden. By the looks of this Oregano we will have lots of divisions this spring. Its starting to invade the nicely behaved Thyme next to it in the garden.
I dream about having an herb garden similar to this one at Kirkland House in Ladner. The purple flowers in this photo are from the Chives. It is also planted up with Sage and lavender. I love the colours used in this garden. Sedum angelina makes an evergreen border with its chartreuse foliage.
Okay, spring, hurry up!
It's looking that way here as well Spring is in the winter air it seems
