Its a busy week as we count down the days until the Ladner Seedy Saturday and Garden Expo. I am packing seeds for the seed swap and you all know how many seeds I have collected. Way too many!
I shared my new Heritage Harvest seed catalogue yesterday with a twitter friend and was accused of being an enabler, lol. Fortunately we both know we are addicted to seeds.
Why do I like seeds so much? I think its because they give me a sense of satisfaction. From the initial sowing to the excitement when a tiny plant germinates. Then I watch as it takes off and grows at full speed under my care. I guess just following the whole life cycle of the seed to plant is really such a miracle of life.
Its hard to believe that when you look at a tiny seed of a carrot which is so minute and then look at the end result to wonder how it happened. Mother nature has really done it right. Its like magic.
So as I sit here today counting, packaging and labeling seeds, I hope that they will be shared with as much love as I have had from them. That the thought of sprinkling Nigella seeds will bring hope of a new plant to admire or the planting of a new type of eggplant will be enjoyed at someones table.
So you see, there is a purpose behind my seed collecting. I want to be able to share with others the miracle of life in the garden.
